Privacy Policy

Overview
Rebound is built so that your personal activity stays on your phone. The app has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no server of its own. What you do inside Rebound, the apps you block, your schedules, your journal, your focus data, is stored locally on your device.
Two service providers help us operate the subscription business (Superwall and RevenueCat, described below), and Apple processes all payments. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice.
Who we are and scope
The Rebound app and this website are operated by Rebound ("we", "us"). This policy applies to the Rebound iOS app and to this website. The website is a static site: it does not use analytics, tracking, cookies, or contact forms.
Information stored on your device
The following information is created when you use Rebound and is stored in a local database on your iPhone. It is not transmitted to us. We cannot see it.
- Information you enter: your answers to the onboarding questions (goals, habits, estimated screen time, age range), an optional first name, and any journal entries you write.
- Blocking configuration: which apps you selected to block, your schedules, Hard Mode settings, and pauses.
- Activity generated by the app: your Battery score history, intervention outcomes (for example, whether you walked away or opened an app and for how many minutes), focus check results, and reset exercise completions.
The Rebound app code makes no network requests of its own, so this information stays on the device unless Apple's standard device backup (for example, iCloud Backup, which you control) includes it.
Screen Time and app selections
Rebound blocks apps using Apple's Screen Time technology (the Family Controls and Device Activity frameworks). It is worth understanding the distinction between the permission and the data:
- The permission lets Rebound shield the apps you choose and show you reports about your usage. You grant or revoke it in iOS Settings under Screen Time.
- The data is handled by Apple's frameworks in a way that is deliberately opaque to developers. When you select apps to block, iOS gives Rebound anonymous tokens rather than app names. Usage reports (screen time totals, pickups, notifications) are rendered inside a sandboxed Apple extension that, by Apple's design, cannot send information out.
In short: Rebound can act on your screen-time data on your device, but neither we nor our service providers receive your browsing or usage history.
Subscriptions and purchases
Rebound subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your full payment-card details. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
To know whether your subscription is active, Rebound and its service providers receive purchase information from Apple such as the product purchased, purchase and renewal dates, and transaction identifiers. This does not include your name, Apple ID, or card number.
Service providers
Two third-party services are integrated in the app. Both exist to run the subscription side of Rebound, not to collect your personal activity.
- Superwall displays the subscription paywall and helps us test paywall variants. When the app runs, the Superwall SDK receives events related to the paywall (for example, that it was shown, or that a purchase started), along with device information such as iOS version, device model, locale, and the anonymous identifier described below. See the Superwall Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat tracks subscription status so we can see aggregate revenue and churn metrics. It operates in "observer" mode: it watches transactions that Apple completes and receives purchase information and the same anonymous identifier. Rebound does not use RevenueCat to decide what you can access. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
We have not confirmed every internal practice of these providers beyond their documentation, which is why we link to their own policies above. The app contains no other analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Anonymous identifier
Because Rebound has no accounts, the app generates one random identifier (a UUID) the first time it runs and stores it in your device's Keychain. This identifier is shared with Superwall and RevenueCat so that their records describe the same anonymous user, and it persists if you delete and reinstall the app. It is not derived from, or linked to, your name, email address, or Apple ID.
Support communications
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in the message (such as screenshots or device details). We use it only to help you and keep it only as long as needed to resolve the issue and maintain a record of the conversation.
How information is used
- On-device data is used by the app itself to block apps, run interventions, and show you your own history and insights.
- Purchase information is used to unlock the app for active subscribers and to understand aggregate business metrics.
- Paywall events are used to measure and improve how the subscription is presented.
- Support emails are used to answer your questions.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Data retention
On-device data remains on your iPhone until you delete it or delete the app. Superwall and RevenueCat retain the events they receive according to their own policies, linked above. Support emails are retained in our mailbox.
Deletion and privacy requests
Deleting the Rebound app from your iPhone deletes the on-device data it created (a copy may persist in your own device backups, which you control). There is currently no separate in-app "delete my data" control because the app's data lives only on your device.
For anything held by our service providers under your anonymous identifier, or to ask a question about this policy, email support@reboundfocus.com and we will handle the request, working with the providers where needed. See also Account & Data Requests.
Security
Rebound relies on the security architecture of iOS: app data is stored in the app's protected container, and the anonymous identifier is stored in the device Keychain. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but keeping your activity on-device substantially limits exposure, because there is no Rebound server to breach.
Children's privacy
Rebound is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app or by email, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
Rebound's service providers operate in the United States, so the limited purchase and paywall information described above may be processed there. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Email us and we will honor applicable requests.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Rebound handles information, we will update this policy and the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
